With our extreme drought conditions, cracks are popping up in homes all across north Texas. As our soils dry out they shrink and move under our foundations causing cracks in the walls and doors to shift and stick.
You can help your home by watering your foundation with soaker hoses. Set your hose about 12-18 inches away from the foundation and let it slowly soak into the soil. Run it for about 30 minutes about three times a week, softening but not saturating the soil. By being consistent in your watering, you will keep the soil from shrinking and hardening and lessen the movement in your foundation.
